COVID 19 AND IN-PERSON MEETING UPDATE
On Monday, May 17th Governor Baker and Lt Governor Polito announced that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is on track to meet the goal of vaccinating 4.1 million residents by the first week of June and remaining COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted effective May 29th.
There is still considerable confusion around current expectations and protocols. As an example, if a mask needs to be worn, who is or is not vaccinated, other variances of COVID, etc.
We will continue to monitor and follow recommendations from the CDC. With that being said, the decision has been made to continue with our virtual meetings throughout the summer with the hope of re-opening in-person chapters in the fall as previously planned.
It has been over a year, and before we can meet in person again, we need to connect with our meeting spaces to find out if we can still gather there, and we need to make sure we keep a virtual platform for those who are too far for in-person meetings or that are simply not comfortable gathering in a room since COVID-19. In other words, a lot of work and planning needs to take place.
The health and wellbeing of our members, volunteers and staff are of utmost importance.
I am proud to say our team continues to work diligently meeting the needs of the communities offering more programs online such as wellness weekends, Webinars, grief support etc. We have been able to continue to provide Narcan training and Narcan kits to our members either by mail or drop off when possible.
We deeply miss those who have not been attending our virtual chapters and we hope by fall 2021 we will be able to gather again safely. We are here if you need us.
